Privacy Policy
Welcome to ImgSmaller. This policy outlines what data we collect, how we use it, how long we retain it, and your rights. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our service.
Key Points Summary
- No account required — You can use ImgSmaller without signing up.
- Zero-upload mode — When supported, your images stay on your device and are compressed directly in the browser.
- Short retention — Images uploaded to the server are automatically deleted after ~30 minutes.
- Google Drive integration is optional and uses limited, secure access.
What data we process
- Uploaded images: processed temporarily (in-memory or short-term storage) strictly for compression/cropping.
- Technical info: IP address, browser information, and request metadata for performance and abuse prevention.
- Analytics: aggregated and anonymous usage data to improve service; no personal tracking.
- Google Drive files: accessed only when you connect and use Drive-specific features.
- Contact submissions: stored in logs for support and follow-up only.
How we use your data
- To provide image compression and download functionality.
- To display upload and download progress.
- To support Google Drive operations, if connected.
- To prevent abuse, apply rate-limiting, and ensure server stability.
- To improve performance and reliability based on anonymous metrics.
Retention
Uploaded images are automatically deleted approximately 30 minutes after processing. They may be removed earlier by our cleanup system. We do not store files beyond this window.
On-Device (Zero-Upload) Compression
If your browser supports it and it is enabled on our site, compression takes place entirely within your browser using WebAssembly and the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device. If an unsupported format is used, we may fallback to server-side compression with notification.
Google Drive Integration
You may optionally connect your Google Drive to import or export images. We use OAuth 2.0 for secure access and request only the minimum scope needed for the action you initiated. We never access your entire Drive or unrelated files.
Disconnecting Google Drive
You can disconnect Google Drive from within the app. To fully revoke access, go to your Google Account → Security → Third-party apps → Remove ImgSmaller.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and local storage only to remember your preferences such as language, theme, or last-used settings. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Security
All communications are encrypted with HTTPS. Temporary files are securely stored and auto-deleted after processing. On-device compression provides additional privacy. However, please avoid uploading extremely sensitive images, as no system is 100% secure.
Your Rights
- Access: You may request the data we have stored about you.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your data under applicable laws.
- Objection: You may object to data processing in certain conditions.
- Integration control: You may disconnect or revoke Google Drive access at any time.
- Use without signup: You may use the service anonymously without creating an account.
International Data Transfers
Depending on your location and our infrastructure, data may be processed on servers located in other countries. We take appropriate measures to comply with applicable laws for data protection.
Children’s Privacy
ImgSmaller is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.
